Talking science communication on the Let’s Talk SciComm podcast

If you’re looking for an example of a highly dedicated podcast team, look no further than Associate Professor Jen Martin and Dr Michael Wheeler! At 7 p.m. on a Friday, when others might be kicking off their weekend with a drink, these wonderful hosts had me on their show, the Let's Talk SciComm Podcast, to chat about my journey from journalism to science communication.

Our wide-ranging discussion covers my experience starting a science communication business during the pandemic, my thoughts on how scientists can make their work more relatable through personal narratives, and what AI means for how we make meaning in the world.

Thanks to Jen and Michael for accommodating the nine-hour time difference between Melbourne and Cape Town and for their thoughtful questions.

Listen in via your favourite podcast platform, and let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

If you don't already follow the show, check out Let’s Talk SciComm, which is part of the University of Melbourne's Science Communication Teaching Program. Jen and Michael have done close to 80 interviews and counting, including chats with many science communication superstars (some of whom I am now fortunate to call friends).
