Muizenberg-CAN

In March 2020, as Covid-19 became a reality in South Africa, a team of volunteers from my community joined together to face the pandemic as a collective. We formed the Muizenberg Community Action Network, which is part of Cape Town Together.

A key focus has been on food security during South Africa’s national lockdown, with support for community kitchens in Muizenberg and our neighbouring community Vrygrond.

I volunteered as head of communications (March 2020 - April 2021)

My work with the collective included:

• Website design

• Writing the monthly newsletter

• Press interviews

• Running our social media feeds

• Photography

• Facilitating public engagement efforts
